Removals to France: About Strasbourg

Strasbourg is a picturesque city in the Alsace region of France and has a wealth of history. It is situated on the borders of France and Germany has changed hands between the two countries over the centuries before reverting to France in the First World War. As a result, it has both French and German influences. However, although you will find some German spoken here, the main language is French.

If you require shipping to Strasbourg, it is a stunning city to live and work in. It is a very cosmopolitan city and is the seat of the European Parliament, the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights.

Strasbourg is also a major centre of tourism. It has some fascinating architecture, including the incredible Strasbourg Cathedral. This is the tallest Christian building for more than four centuries and stands at an incredible 466 feet. One of the oldest annual winter markets in France takes place near the cathedral and is popular with tourists and locals alike.

Strasbourg is such a beautiful city that you can easily spend a day walking and marvelling at the architecture. Indeed, the centre, Grand Ile, was the first to be named entirely as a UNESCO world heritage site.

However, it is not only the ancient buildings that make this French city so appealing. It is also rich in culture, with the Opera national du Rhin, Theatre national de Strasbourg and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg just some of the internationally renowned arts organisations based here.
